The Vera Project (Vera) seeks a full-time Programming Director to co-direct the organization and lead all programming efforts.
The Vera Project's mission is to foster a participatory creative culture through popular music concerts, arts programs, experiential learning and volunteer opportunities for all ages, especially young people. Vera fundamentally believes that popular music is a vital force, and that young people and adults have the ability and right to participate in and shape their culture. In keeping with these values, Vera uses an innovative three-director model, with the Program, Managing and Development Directors collaboratively providing executive leadership to the staff team under the guidance of the Board of Directors and governing Members; and Vera incorporates youth leadership throughout the organization. (More info at www.theveraproject.org.)
The Programming Director reports directly to the Board, and works with Board and Vera's youth-led governing Membership to plan and execute all programs of the organization. This position must work respectfully and collaboratively with young people to engage them in producing cutting edge concerts at least twice weekly, monthly gallery exhibitions and high usage of our silkscreen and recording studios. The ideal candidate will have experience creating and implementing innovative programming, along with an understanding of the ethics and culture of grassroots music, arts and youth activism.
