The Institute for Family Development, a statewide nonprofit organization headquartered in Federal Way, WA, has an opening for a full-time FFT therapist to serve families in Pierce and Kitsap Counties.
FFT is a nationally recognized, evidence-based program for at-risk youth ages 10 to 18 and their families. FFT therapists provide, at a minimum, weekly home-based family therapy sessions over a 3 to 4 month period utilizing the Functional Family Therapy model. A full-time therapist carries a caseload of 10 to 14 families at any given time, with most client appointments occurring in the afternoon and evening hours. This position requires flexibility in schedule to meet families when they are available and travel throughout the counties to meet with them in their homes. Therapists have the opportunity to participate in specialized training, consultation, and quality enhancement processes. Therapists operate as part of a supportive FFT team. Primary job functions include, but are not limited to:
• Interview and conduct on-going assessments of youths and their families. Identify protective and risk factors. Target changeable risk factors for intervention.
• Identify, develop and implement appropriate cognitive and behavioral intervention strategies that are sensitive to the unique characteristics of each family member within the guidelines of the FFT Model.
• Provide skill-building education to families. Identify community resources. Assist in improving system relationships such as school and community support systems.
• Complete FFT and IFD required web based case record documentation.
Qualifications:
• BSW/BA in Social Work or Psychology or related field and 2 years of relevant experience, or MSW/ MA in Social Work, Psychology or related field. Master's degree preferred.
• Must live in Pierce County.
• Valid driver's license and vehicle in good working condition.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
• Active Washington State DOH counseling credential.
• Must be able to attend FFT training in Denver, CO, April 23-25, 2012.
The starting salary range for a full-time Master's level therapist is $31,142 - $39,255. Starting salary range for a Bachelor's level therapist is $27,420-$32,917. DOE. Mileage compensation and excellent benefits including: medical, dental, and retirement, vacation, sick leave, and holidays.
