PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Support (Drop-in Assistant Coordinator and Senior Program Director in facilitating pre-designed programs in an assigned area. Expected to communicate with and motivate youth in a positive manner. Majority of responsibility is working directly with youth, ensuring their safety, well being and development through interactive play and other activities as directed.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Contribute to programs, activities and services that prepare youth for success while contributing to creating a Club environment that facilitates Youth Development Outcome achievement
• Contribute to ensuring a healthy and safe environment while helping to ensure that facilities, equipment and supplies are maintained
• Contribute to planning, developing, implementing and evaluating programs, services and activities
• Ensure a productive work environment

Ensure program area are set-up and cleaned-up on a daily basis
• Lead club Power Hour sessions
• Lead daily high yield learning activities
• Implement Sisterhood, Torch club and other specific BGCA programs
• Positively engage club members grades 7th - 12th
• Be a good communicator, team player and problem solver
• Other duties as assigned
RELATIONSHIPS:
Internal: Maintain close, daily contact with Club staff (professional and volunteer), Club members, and supervisor.
Communicate daily to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain or interpret guidelines/instructions.
External: Support external contact as instructed with community groups, schools, member's parents and others as directed by supervisor.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
• Currently enrolled in Jr. College or University
• Youth development experience preferred
• Satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record as determined by BGCKC Vehicle Loss Prevention Program, must be able to drive Club owned and operated vehicles
• Successful completion of National Criminal History Background check
• Current CPR and First Aid Certifications
• Knowledge and/or experience working with a non-profit youth development agency, Boys & Girls Club experience preferred
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
• Good organization and attention to detail, professional presence, strong customer relations skills and ability to maintain strict confidentiality
• Understanding of youth development principles, ability to motivate youth in a positive way
• Ability to learn and support new ideas for the good of the Club
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This position must be able to do light work including exerting up to 10 lbs of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force periodically to move objects. Climbing stairs, walking, standing for sustained periods of time, as well as noise levels consistent with the environment are all part of the physical and working conditions of the job.
Hours: less than 20 hours per week -- Temporary Position
Salary Range: $9.00-$11.00 per hour
