Substitute Teacher (Auburn, WA)

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Substitute Teacher collaborates with the Lead Teacher to facilitate a classroom program at ACAP Child and Family Services, a program within Auburn Youth Resources. Duties include planning and implementation of activities designed to promote social, emotional, physical and intellectual growth in children. Follows all state licensing rules & agency policies.

Pay: $11.00-$11.50 Per/hr

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Implement individual multi-cultural growth curriculum.
2. Prepare and arrange all necessary education materials.
3. Responsible for keeping classroom clean and orderly. Maintain an effective living and learning environment.
4. Responsible for maintaining classroom equipment in good condition and maintain accurate inventory of classroom materials.
5. Record observations; share information and planning with parent/s on how to meet child's needs
6. Record all pertinent information about child and maintain information under proper security
7. Report all incidents of suspected child abuse immediately
8. Report all minor and major incident
9. Inventory baby food/formula for kitchen staff
10. Maintain communication with team and supervisors

OTHER FUNCTIONS:

1. Attend agency staff meetings, in-service meetings, and parent meetings as scheduled.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
1. Ability to participate as a positive, productive team member of the site's multi-disciplinary team.
2. Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices for preschool children.
3. Ability to communicate effectively and relate positively to students, parents, staff and volunteers in a diverse environment.
4. Ability to adjust to varied situations, demands and new instructional concepts.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. AA degree required in Early Childhood Education or similar degree, BA preferred.

REQUIRED LICENSES, CERTIFICATES OR KNOWLEDGE:
1. Valid drivers' license and proof of automobile insurance.
2. Proof of negative TB test.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
1. Must be able to work on occasional weekday afternoons.
2. Must be able to lift 35 lbs.
3. Must be able to work with distractions and interruptions.
