Peer Counselor - Sea Mar Behavioral Health (Kent)

Peer Counselor (Kent): Peer Counselor: Part-time position for our BH Department in Kent.

The outpatient Certified Peer Counselor (CPC) is responsible for providing support, education and resources services to clients in Sea Mar's outpatient Behavioral Health sites and in the community. The CPC, under supervision, will support individuals by providing hope, encouragement, support, self determination, and connection to the community. The CPC will help the person receiving CPC services and build skills as an advocate for their needs and rights.

Education and/or Experience: Be at least 21 years of age, have a GED, high school diploma, or equivalent. Have or have had a primary diagnosis of mental illness. Be a current or former client of mental health services. Have successfully completed Peer Support Specialist training, passed the exam, and currently hold a certification in good standing. Knowledge and experience working with Latinos, migrant and seasonal farm workers and homeless individuals preferred. Interest and flexibility in a variety of person care situations: family care, youth, and adult. Peer Counseling Certification, as prescribed by WAC, must have and maintain CPR/First Aid Certification.
