Childcare Director - Boys and Girls Clubs of King County (Seattle - Rainier Valley)

Childcare Director (Seattle - Rainier Valley): Boys and Girls Clubs of King County is searching for an experienced Childcare Director to manage a program at the Smilow Clubhouse and Teen Center @ Rainier Vista.

This "Assistant Childcare Director" position is part-time at 35 hours per week. The program has 2 AM staff, 2 PM staff and 25 youth on average each day with plans for a 60+ participant program over the summer.

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
This position is responsible for supporting the Childcare Department in its delivery of a broad range of youth development programs. Will support Childcare Department to ensure quality programming is planned and delivered. Support the implementation and supervision of programs and department responsibilities. Support departmental participation in all applicable BGCKC-wide events (i.e. Sports Field Day, Best of Both Worlds, Youth of the Year, Keystone, Torch, etc.) Work in partnership with the Operations Director to ensure programming goals and benchmarks are met. This is a supervisory position. Will be responsible for the Childcare license at the SRV club, and ensuring the department and all staff (4 staff during the school year, 10 staff during the summer) follow WA DEL licensing requirements.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Support Operations Director in building and maintaining partnerships with parents, families, community leaders, and organizations
2. Maintain good public relations
3. Support the training and development of staff and volunteers as requested
4. Support the organization and facilitation of weekly staff meetings
5. May participate in special programs or events
6. See attached Supplement for additional organizational expectations
7. Maintain record keeping following the WA DEL standards
8. Work to license the SRV facility as a City of Seattle HSD site and follow all HSD regulations
9. Manage the Childcare Department budget and ensure all payments are received each month
10. Manage all DSHS billing and record keeping
11. Manage Childcare staff and provide appropriate opportunities for their professional development

RELATIONSHIPS:
Internal: Maintain close, daily contact with Club staff (professional and volunteer), Club members, and supervisor. Communicate daily to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain or interpret guidelines/instructions. Collaborate with other Clubs as appropriate.
External: Maintain contact with external community groups, schools, member's parents and others as necessary to be successful in position and as directed by Branch Executive Director

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
• Four year degree in related field from an accredited college or university, or currently enrolled in school
• Three years applicable experience
• Knowledge of youth development principles
• Satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record as determined by BGCKC Vehicle Loss Prevention Program, must be 21 years old or older to drive Club owned and operated vehicles
• Successful completion of National Criminal History Background check
• Current CPR and First Aid Certifications
• Knowledge and/or experience working with a non-profit youth development agency, Boys & Girls Club experience preferred
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
• Good organization and attention to detail, professional presence, strong customer relations skills and ability to maintain strict confidentiality
• Experience in youth development principles, ability to motivate youth in a positive way
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Ability to learn and implement new ideas for the good of the Club
• At least one year experience supervising 3+ staff in a WA DEL licensed program
• Comprehensive knowledge of all WA DEL licensing requirements
• Experience managing payments from parents and DSHS
• Experience working with a WA DEL licensor and managing compliance agreements
• Trained in behavior management techniques and ability to train staff
• Experience working in or managing a City of Seattle HSD licensed Childcare site preferred
• Ability to adapt to scheduling conflicts and maintain a flexible schedule
• Experience planning and managing a summer program with 50+ participants

This is a part-time 35 hour/week position that may require some split shifts. The program runs from 7:00am-9:00am and then from 3:00pm to 6:30pm.

Pay Range: $13.00-$18.00/hour depending on qualifications
