Drop-in Shelter Coordinator (Auburn, WA): SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position is responsible for coordinating and monitoring after school drop in and ensuring the operation of the shelter program for youth (ages 12-17). Position requires initial start up and planning of the drop in program; and the continued development of program activities within the drop in facility. Maintaining a culture of safety for youth and the direction of volunteers will be necessary.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Monitoring Drop-In Center youth and recreational activities.
2. Perform intake and assessment for youth accessing emergency shelter.
3. Collaborate with youth, families, schools, and other service providers to identify needs of the youth and work to make referrals to necessary services.
4. Lead and supervise evening program for youth accessing the emergency shelter.
5. Activities planning; coordination of Drop-In activities to include recreation, arts, life skills, and computer/tutoring.
6. Assist with field trips, parties, special activities.
7. Assist with youth group programs and support groups as assigned.
8. Record and timely reporting of monthly drop-in stats.
9. Develop and maintain resource guide for youth.
10. Develop and maintain thorough knowledge of Auburn and local services and provide resource information for youth accessing both drop-in and shelter as needed.
11. Collect and compile data relevant to funding sources.
12. Record and maintain incident reports for drop-in center and shelter program.
13. Attend regular staff meetings.
14. Supervise and provide direction to volunteers

OTHER FUNCTIONS:
1. Maintain neat and clean drop-in and kitchen areas.
2. Establish and maintain a safe and healthy culture within the facility
3. Maintain repairs on drop-in center equipment or report needed repairs to Supervisor
4. Assign work to youth, record and report community service hours.
5. Promote positive "PR" (image) for AYR

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
1. At least one year experience working with at-risk youth or equivalent work experience.
2. Demonstrated ability to communicate and set clear and firm boundaries with youth.
3. Ability to work in highly stressful situations.
4. Demonstrated ability to intervene in crisis situations (Crisis Intervention skills).
5. Ability to communicate clearly, both written and verbal.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Bachelors Degree in Human (Social Services) related field, and two years of prior related experience. Combination of education and experience may be considered.

REQUIRED LICENSES, CERTIFICATES OR KNOWLEDGE:
1. Current First-Aid and CPR certification.
2. Current Washington State Counselors Registration status.
3. Current Washington State Drivers License and proof of insurance.
4. Proof of Negative TB test.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
1. Must be available evenings and some weekends.
