The outpatient Certified Peer Counselor (CPC) is responsible for providing supports, education and resources services to clients in Sea Mar's outpatient Behavioral Health sites and in the community. The CPC, under supervision, will support individuals by providing hope, encouragement, support, self determination, and connection to the community. The CPC will help the person receiving CPC services build skills as an advocate for their needs and rights.
Education and/or Experience: Be at least 21 years of age, have a GED, high school diploma or equivalent. Have or have had a primary diagnosis of mental illness. Be a current or former consumer of mental health services. Have successfully completed Peer Counseling Certification training, passed the exam and hold a certification in good standing. Knowledge and experience working with Hispanics, migrant and seasonal farm workers and homeless individuals preferred. Interest and flexibility in a variety of person care situations: family care, youth, and adult. Peer Counseling Certification, as prescribed by WAC, must have and maintain CPR/First Aid Certification.
