Prevention/Intervention Specialist (Bothell): PREVENTION / INTERVENTION SPECIALIST (CDP)

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Prevention/Intervention Specialist provides prevention and intervention services to secondary schools in the Northshore School District. This will include drug and alcohol screenings and providing information to school personnel and students. Must be a CDP. Reports to the Prevention/Intervention Program Manager. This is an exempt position. Bi-Lingual/Bi-Cultural candidates are encouraged to apply.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES -- Specific for this position

Provides 6 hours per week per assigned school with prevention and intervention services -individually and/or in classrooms, PTA, and School Care Team Meetings

Maintains Outlook calendar on a daily basis providing times and places employee can be reached if needed

Conducts four-hour Intervention/Education groups on Saturdays as needed

Attends all staff meetings as scheduled by program manager

Uses laptop and cell phone according to the policies established by the Executive Director

Keeps records of pre and post tests for all youth seen three or more times for intervention purposes and enter data weekly into the MIS system for P/Is

Any school requests will be reported promptly to the Program Manager for authorization prior to initiating programs, groups or events at any school

Attends all mandatory meetings required by our contract with Northshore School District and the PSESD

This is a year round position and all vacation and time off is encouraged to be taken during the times when school is out for summers and on school breaks

Maintains accurate and thorough clinical records as per agency, county and state requirements

Provides input and report to Program Manager regarding the clinical needs of clients, improved ways of offering prevention, outreach, treatment services and supervision

Provides outreach and consultation, prevention and treatment services as indicated by contract and program needs

Completes all tasks and contract scopes of work as assigned by the Program Manager in a timely manner

Completes all data entry on a daily basis

Maintains a professional and courteous attitude to all clients, partners and community members

Maintains status as a qualified chemical dependency professional or trainee

Able to work with minimal supervision

Conducts GAIN assessments on a weekly basis.

Follows agency policies and procedures, RCWs, WACs, and other external regulations

Follows CHS's Code of Ethics

Performs other appropriate tasks related to your professional role as needed

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

AA Degree or equivalent in Human Services

Two years full time experience providing youth and family substance abuse treatment

Be a Chemical Dependency Professional as described in WAC

Be licensed, certified or registered in the State of Washington

GAIN Certified or willing to become GAIN certified within 3 months

Articulate with the ability to represent the agency in a professional manner

Comfort and skill with public speaking and networking

Demonstrated skills in individual, group and family counseling

Available to work some evening hours on a regular schedule

Must have no misuse of alcohol or other drugs within the previous 2 years

Able to lift 5 pounds

Commitment to confronting racism, sexism, heterosexism, and other discriminatory practices

Experience and demonstrated ability to successfully work within a diverse cultural setting and provide culturally competent services

Ability to work cooperatively as part of a team

Prompt and consistent attendance during scheduled working hours

Annual TB test

Ability to work in an unstructured and unpredictable setting, ability to adapt to change

Sense of humor

LOCATION

This position is located within the Substance Abuse Department at CHS's Northshore STARS Program in Bothell (22105 23rd Dr SE, Bothell, WA 98021)
