Key Responsibilities
• Build quality relationships with members and provide leadership and hands-on instruction in groups and on a one-to-one basis.
• Identify and develop small groups and activities that help bring members together.
• Assist in the planning of curriculum and coordination of swim class schedules while maintaining member safety.
• Plan, coordinate and implement programs as assigned. Work with other staff to enhance participation levels and meet the goals and objectives of the YMCA Aquatic Programs.
• Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and coordinate volunteers and part-time staff in specified program areas.
• Demonstrate teamwork and a positive attitude with the aquatic staff, other staff in the building and Association, and all members at the Morgan Family YMCA.
• Operate within a zero-based budget for aquatics programs.
• Open and/or close the facility as scheduled, serving as Manager on Duty.
• Participate as a key staff leader in the Strong Kids Campaign by telling the Y story, by recruiting, leading, and supervising volunteers and securing charitable donations.
• Identify and develop small group and activities that help bring members together.

• Model the YMCA values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility through fun, positive relationships with members & staff. Seek every opportunity to encourage, motivate and thank fellow staff members for their work.
• Be enthusiastic toward members by learning their names and expressing an interest in their YMCA activities. Strive to enrich their Y experience by introducing them to new programs, staff, members and volunteer activities.
• Understand the Y's mission, goals, objectives and programs to better relay this information to members for Youth Development, Healthy Living, and Social Responsibility.
Professional Image and Development
• Maintain a consistent, professional image through dress, actions and relationships with members. Speak enthusiastically on behalf of the Y at given opportunities.
• Participate in applicable training and conferences to further professional growth as outlined in annual training plan.
• Participate in staff meetings and other association or branch committees, and with Branch Advisory Committee, as needed.
• Represents the YMCA and self in a professional manner of safety and fun.
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree and/or two years related knowledge and experience that includes supervision, fiscal management, program development, staff and volunteer development.
• Current CPR for the Professional, AED, First Aid, Oxygen Administration, and Lifeguarding certifications.
• YMCA Team Leader certification preferred.
• Knowledge of current aquatic safety and program standards, latest trends in aquatics, and the ability to articulate and incorporate them.
• The ability to demonstrate a friendly, courteous and professional manner when dealing with members and the ability to understand articulate and enforce YMCA policies and procedures in a positive manner.
• Strong self-starter and initiator with a passion for service and relationship building.
