Job Announcement
POSITION TITLE: Community Liaisons
NUMBER OF HIRING:  5 part time contractors
LOCATION:     South King County
CULTURAL/LANGUAGE SUPPORT:    Ethiopian, African American, South Asian, Korean, Samoan and Russian/or Ukrainian
PROGRAM:  Multicultural Community Parent Resource Center
 Summary:     The Community Liaison is a contractor, who will work to fulfill contracted assignments.  The Community Liaison will work independently and report directly to the Project Director.  The Community Liaison assists diverse families who have children ages 0-26 served in special education and educators in Kent, Federal Way, and Highline School Districts.  The Community Liaison provides language support for Open Doors’ activities and events such as translating flyers, assisting in parent training workshops and family events and helping Open Doors in collecting family data.
Responsibilities:
• Provide language support for families that will help families better understand the educational needs of their children with disabilities and special health Care needs.
• Provide language support so that families can identify and obtain information and services.
• Provide language support during Open Doors parent workshops and family events and activities
• Collect and record family data required for this project
Qualifications/ Requirements:
1. Able to speak, read and follow written communications in English and in one of the following languages: a.) AMHARIC b.) HINDI/ PUNJABI/ or URDU c.) KOREAN d.) SAMOAN e.) RUSSIAN/or UKRANIAN (other language not required for African American Liaison)
2.  Two years of experience working with families.
3.  Possess good listening skills and patience and demonstrate respect and flexibility in communicating with a wide range of people from various cultural and socio-economic backgrounds, geographic locations and community settings.
4. Proven ability to communicate clearly orally and in writing.
5. Good track record of completing contractual requirements in a timely and professional manner.
6. Experience using Microsoft WORD and EXCEL, internet and email.
7. Use of a car and a valid Washington State Driver’s license
   
REPORTS TO:  Executive Director
STATUS/PAY:   $20/hour
