Girl Scouts of Western Washington (GirlScoutsWW.org) is currently seeking an individual with an interest in, and preferably experience with, working with children K-8 in a classroom setting. The Program Assistant will assist a Program Coordinator in the delivery of Girl Scout programming in Seattle schools as part of the Girl Scouting in the School Day Program. The Program Assistant will help deliver our Girl Scouting in the School Day program, whose curriculum and activities are developed in cooperation with teachers and administrators and can cover math, science, leadership and life skills. This is a part-time (12-15 hours per week) position with no health or leave benefits that is expected to run through the end of June.

Essential Functions:

Primary

Assist Program Coordinator to deliver the Girl Scouting in the School Day program consistent with GSUSA and Girl Scouts of Western Washington policies and program at designated schools.

Assist Program Coordinator in developing, expanding, and evaluating age-appropriate curriculum-based programs for the GSSD program. Provide culturally competent program materials to families and girls that show the benefits of the Girl Scout program.

Assist Program Coordinator in maintaining positive ongoing relationships and proactive communication with teachers, administrators and other district personnel. Attend school and community meetings as appropriate.

Secondary

Assist Program Coordinator in preparing troop materials and ensuring administrative components are timely and efficiently completed; including, but not limited to, girl registration forms, event permission slips, monthly reports, evaluations and outcome survey forms.

Assist Program Coordinator in implementing seasonal Girl Scout activities, such as Thinking Day, the Girl Scout Cookie Program, and Girl Scout camp.

Performs other duties as assigned, including, but not limited to: inter-departmental "cross-program support and development," substituting for other program coordinators, assisting summer day camp opportunities for outreach.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma with additional schooling preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• At least one year teaching or delivering educational program to youth grades K-8 preferred
• Experience working in classroom setting preferred
• Availability to work varied hours within a range of 7:30am -- 3:30pm; including some nights and weekends as necessary
• Demonstrated ability to work with culturally and racially diverse groups and at risk populations
• Demonstrated ability to multi-task, work independently, take initiative and maintain confidentiality
• Knowledge of Girl Scout program or youth development progression preferred
• Skilled in Outlook, Word. Familiar with Excel and Access or similar database program
• Strong written and oral communication skills and strong interpersonal skills to ensure effective interaction with individuals at all levels and backgrounds
• Valid Washington State driver's license, vehicle in working condition, proof of insurance or the ability to fulfill timely travel requirements across widespread regional geography
• Satisfactory results from criminal background search
• Ability to lift and transport materials weighing up to 30 lbs with or without reasonable accommodation
• Willing to maintain membership in Girl Scouts.
