Position Title: Case Manager / James W. Ray Orion Center

Job Closing Date: February 9, 2012

WORK SCHEDULE: This position is full time and non-exempt. Work schedule is typically Monday through Friday, hours are flexible and may require working some evenings and weekends.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Basic Services Manager, the Case Manager will be responsible for case management services provided to minor and youth victims of human trafficking ages 12-24.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

•Enroll 25 youth per year into the case management grant.
•Assess participants in need of services, develop and document service plans on participants that include linkages with community resources, family, other YouthCare components or external providers as clinically appropriate. Work with client and internal and external staff to ensure follow-through.
•Provide a minimum of 20 hours weekly direct contact with participants at the James W. Ray Orion Center, including face-to-face counseling, advocacy and transportation and assisting youth in meeting their basic needs of food, housing and safety.
•Link youth to opportunities that allow them to gain skills to become successful adults.
•Act as a mentor and advocate for youth participants.
•Engage youth through Motivational Interviewing, strengths-based and harm reduction approaches.
•Complete and submit all documentation and grant reporting in a timely manner.
•Participate in weekly or bi-monthly supervision meetings and in monthly clinical consultation.
•Attend in-service trainings.
•Attend grant funder sponsored meetings as required for position.
•Spend time working collaboratively with the Community Outreach Team participating in outreach activities and working in drop-in areas, providing a link between case management and other Orion services.
•Drop-in service responsibilities include maintaining safety and managing behaviors in the drop-in areas; facilitating activities; preparing and serving meals; kitchen clean up and overall area maintenance.
•Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

PREFERENCES:

•Experience working with homeless and/or youth who are victims of human trafficking or have been exploited.
•Experience working in crisis situations and with de-escalation techniques.

REQUIREMENTS:

•Bachelor's degree or three years' experience working with high-risk youth.
•Understanding of issues affecting youth who are homeless and population resources.
•Understanding of issues affecting youth who are victims of human trafficking.
•Ability to multi-task and prioritize to meet participants' and Center's needs.
•Acceptance of a variety of lifestyles, behaviors, and cultural and spiritual practices.
•Be flexible and willing to meet with participants in various community locations.
•Ability to maintain professional behavior by keeping appropriate boundaries with youth and staff members of the James W. Ray Orion Center.
•Ability to successfully work independently and as a member of a team.
•Able to operate a 15-passenger van.
•Ability to pass a DSHS Criminal Background Check.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

•Ability to perform moderate physical work, exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and 10 to 20 pounds frequently.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS -- Within 30 Days of Hire

•Must have current negative TB test
•CPR / First Aid Certification
•Food Handler's Card
•HIV / AIDS Training (minimum 4 hours)
•When driving YouthCare vehicles, you must possess a valid WA State Drivers License and have taken Van Driver Certification Training or an approved Defensive Driving Course.
