Boys and Girls Club Child Care Staff- 2nd and 3rd grade classroom (Mercer Island, WA)

Boys and Girls Club Child Care Staff- 2nd and 3rd grade classroom (Mercer Island, WA): We are looking or an enthusiastic individual with a passion for working with children. This is a part-time before and after school position granting 30-35hrs a week. The pay is $11 per hour. The specific work shifts are outlined below.

M: 6:30-9am and 2-6:30 pm
T: 6:30-9am and 3:00-6:30pm
W: 6:30-9am and 3:00-6:30pm
TH: 6:30-9am and 3:00-6:30pm
F: 6:30-9am and 3:00-6:30pm

This schedule does NOT include specialty events, weekly Child Care meetings, All-Staff Meetings, County events, and other duties as assigned. Hours will fluctuate based on an as needed basis. We will be looking to hire as soon as possible. Ideal candidate would be able to begin work immediately. College students are strongly encouraged to apply!

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Support Child Care Director in facilitating before and after school programs in an assigned area. Expected to communicate with and motivate youth in a positive manner. Majority of responsibility is working directly with youth, ensuring their safety, well being and development through interactive play and other activities as directed.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Contribute to programs, activities and services that prepare youth for success while contributing to creating a Club environment that facilitates Youth Development Outcome achievement
- Contribute to ensuring a healthy and safe environment while helping to ensure that facilities, equipment and supplies are maintained
- Contribute to planning, developing, implementing and evaluating programs, services and activities
- Ensure a productive work environment
- Responsible for the cleanliness of the storage room and Explorers room
- Attend weekly staff meetings
- Support the opening of our new Boys & Girls Club the PEAK & new programs
- Implement and improve our 2 & 3rd Grade Explorer Program and before school care program
- Provide quality fall and summer camp programming
- Help uphold daily attendance logs
- Meet licensing requirements (including trainings and certifications)
- Support and work with the Mercer Island School District to meet the needs of our members.
- Participate in B&GC of King County events and programs
- Further Job Responsibilities during summer months to include:
 Provide safe, fun and supervised activities for Explorer fall programs and summer camp.
 Support all summer camps, through team work, meetings and special events.
 Provide an array of activities that include: environmental awareness, leadership skills, healthy lifestyles, social awareness and foster positive relationships.
 Actively participate on daily field trips.
 Implement programming on Club days; that is fun, educational and based on weekly themes.

RELATIONSHIPS:
Internal: Maintain close, daily contact with Club staff (professional and volunteer), Club members, and supervisor. Communicate daily to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain or interpret guidelines/instructions.

External: Support external contact as instructed with community groups, schools, member's parents and others as directed by supervisor.

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
- High School diploma, GED, or currently enrolled in school
- Youth development experience preferred
- Satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record as determined by BGCKC Vehicle Loss Prevention Program, must be 21 years old or older to drive Club owned and operated vehicles
- Successful completion of National Criminal History Background check
- Current CPR and First Aid Certifications
- Knowledge and/or experience working with a non-profit youth development agency, Boys & Girls Club experience preferred
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
- Good organization and attention to detail, professional presence, strong customer relations skills and ability to maintain strict confidentiality
