PT Youth Program Assistant (Bellevue): The Salvation Army Eastside Corps is now looking for a PT Youth Program Assistant. The position is 20hours, Monday- Friday. POSITION TITLE: YOUTH PROGRAMS ASSISTANT

STATUS: PART-TIME 20 HOURS

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:
• High school, GED, degrees or classes towards working with youth.
• Minimum of 1 year working with youth.
• Should possess educational background commensurate with the nature of this position, or have successful experience in similar positions.

REQUIREMENTS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• Mature in the Christian faith
• Knowledge or willingness to learn the mission of The Salvation Army
• Willingness to follow instructions and rules
• Team player
• Comfortable to make a fool of yourself in front of children
• Strong use of the English language in verbal and written communication
• (Spelling - 90% Grammar -- 85%)
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain poise under pressure
• Working knowledge of The Salvation Army policies, procedures and programs.
• Ability to teach; lead youth consistent with The Salvation Army doctrine, practices and beliefs.
• Compassionate understanding and adherence to The Salvation Army ministry and mission.
• Must complete required youth protection and drivers safety training as mandated by The Salvation Army.
• Must have a valid Washington State driver's license.
• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Ability and willingness to keep information confidential
• Able to facilitate and implement a safe environment in keeping up with Protecting the Mission

SOFTWARE-RELATED SKILLS:
• Microsoft Word and Excel required
• Microsoft PowerPoint, helpful
• Lotus Notes, helpful
• Working knowledge of integrated database applications and ability to use new software programs with basic training.


SCOPE OF POSITION: Assisting primarily in the After School Program and other youth activities under the direction of Youth Director, Youth Coordinator, and the Corps Officers of the Eastside Corps.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• The responsibilities of the Youth Program Assistant are to follow, lead, teach, and oversee youth activities involving the Eastside Corps Community Center which are but not not limited to after school program, girl's nights, teen nights, youth nights, field trips, special events, troops, assemblies.
• Co-operate with the Youth Department to help plan and execute VBS, Day Camp, Soccer Camp and any other youth events that are prescribed.
• Seek out opportunities to engage children in the community and corps.
• Able to facilitate implement a safe environment in keeping up with Protecting the Mission


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis
• Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, and reach overhead
• Ability to operate a desktop or laptop computer
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
• Ability to access and produce information from a computer
• Ability to understand written information
