Adolescent Substance Abuse Treatment Counselor - Friends of Youth (Duvall)

Adolescent Substance Abuse Treatment Counselor (Duvall): Friends of Youth is a not for profit organization committed to the support of youth and young adults in our community. With 60 years of experience, 20 program sites, and national accreditation, we provide safe places and emotional support for youth and families in challenging circumstances. Our services include:

-Residential Services, providing therapeutic residential services, including foster care, to youth under 18;
-Homeless Support Services, providing outreach, overnight shelter, case management, employment and housing for homeless youth and young adults in East King County; and
-Youth and Family Services, providing counseling, substance abuse treatment, prevention and parenting programs in East King County.

Friends of Youth is currently seeking a Adolescent Substance Abuse Treatment Counselor. This position is a full time position.

Responsibilities:
Group services in schools to children of alcoholics, sobriety, and after-care groups.
Outpatient groups at one or more Friends of Youth locations and/or in the community.
Outpatient services to individuals and families.
Assessments of client substance abuse.
Maintain client confidentiality.
Maintain client case file records to meet all WAC requirements.
Work cooperatively with other agency staff in all areas and specifically in mutual case consultation.
Maintain ongoing training requirements for substance abuse counselor qualifications.
Maintain a 50% direct service goal.

Education and Experience
Current Chemical Dependency Professional per WAC 388-805
BA in Psychology, Social Work, or a related field. Master's Degree preferred.
No misuse of chemicals two years prior to hiring and during employment.
Registered or Certified Counselor with the Department of Licensing.
Employees and volunteers who operate their own or Friends of Youth vehicles on Friends of Youth business must have a safe driving record as defined by Friends of Youth. Employees and volunteers who operate their own vehicle(s) on Friends of Youth business must carry auto liability insurance that complies with the requirements of Friends of Youth.
Education or experience in cultural competency.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of relevant COA standards and participation in the Performance and Quality Improvement process.
Must demonstrate sensitivity and responsiveness to cultural differences and a commitment to the value of cultural competency.
