Children's Program Assistant-PT (Hope Place)

Children's Program Assistant-PT (Hope Place): Seattle's Union Gospel Mission is currently looking for a Part-time Children's Program Assistant to join our Youth Services Department, located at Hope Place.

Seattle's Union Gospel Mission is a private faith-based organization that helps the community reach out with compassion to those who have lost hope. And as a community, we empower one another to build, lead and give back.

Our Youth Services team is looking for the newest member of its team and we think that could be you! The Children's Program Assistant will assist in planning and implementing effective programming for children which includes building and maintain relationships with students, parents, volunteers and staff of both Hope Place and the Youth Reach Out Center. This position will require availability to work non-traditional hours including occasional weekends.

Job duties include but are not limited to:
1. Aid in developing and implementing programs for children at Hope Place.
2. Help facilitate parent involvement.
3. Help oversee Hope Place Children's Activity Center volunteers and help facilitate and provide volunteer training.
4. Assist in planning and implementing of effective children's programs, which includes, but is not limited to:

a. Regular contact and outreach
b. Weekly "club" meetings
c. Ongoing discipleship
d. Tutoring
e. Family nights and other special events, camps and mission trips
f. Need-specific programming for traumatized children
g. Bridge-building to Youth Reach Out Center programs as appropriate.

5. Plan extracurricular activities when the children are out of school.
6. Help maintain cleanliness of Hope Place Children's Activity Center and equipment.
7. Maintain appropriate records and documentation in relation to program participants.
8. Drive a Mission vehicle for necessary program needs.
9. Help in modeling excellent parenting skills.
10. Attend various Mission trainings, functions and meetings as required.
11. Ability to maintain the Mission's customer service standards: C.A.R.E.

12. Assist with any other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
1. Excellent organizational, verbal and written skills.
2. Ability to lead, train, and encourage youth in their faith.
3. Ability to work in a team setting
4. Valid WA State Drivers' License and ability to drive 15-passenger van required.
5. Must agree with Seattle's Union Gospel Mission and Sanctuary Church Statement of Faith.

Education: High School diploma required; Degree in Social Services or Early Childhood Development preferred.

Experience: Experience working in inner city children's programs preferred. Ability to drive a 15 passenger van required.
